SMOOTH THREADS
PDO threads are comprised of polydiaxonone, a dissolvable suture material. When they are placed under the skin they elicit a response that produces collagen. This improves the skin’s elasticity and texture and ‘shrink wraps’ the skin. Areas that are ideal for treatment include glabellar (frown) lines, brows, lips, undereyes, areas of acne scarring, under the chin, and neck. Smooth threads can truly be placed anywhere there is skin and they can even help tighten postpartum abdominal skin. Smooth threads are an excellent compliment to Botox treatment for glass-like skin.
LIFTING THREADS
Lifting PDO threads are comprised of the same polydiaxonone dissolvable suture material as smooth PDO threads but they are thicker and molded with barbs to lift the tissue. These threads are effective at lifting the cheek and midface, the nasolabial fold, marionette lines, jawline, and neck. The most robust barbed threads can even lift areas on the body like the knees and elbows. Lifting threads are placed using a blunt cannula and results can last up to 1-2 years. Lifting threads are a great alternative to filler if you do not need additional volume but want some lift.
